The body is the perception organ and the creative channel— I move & paint in communion with my physicality. Conscious embodiment & ritual movement birth, guide & inspire the work. My work digests my sensory experience & confronts my shadow consciousness.
Perception is an abstraction; my canvas is a mirror.
Artist Bio
Genelle LaBrie is a multidisciplinary artist living & working in Edmonton, Alberta. She has been painting primarily in acrylic with a palette knife since 2004. Her training in yoga & Body-Mind Centering® permeate her artistic practice. The built environment & natural world are the sources of her inspiration: matter & molecules, physics & consciousness, waves & wind— she maintains a deep reverence for these unseen forces & invisible miracles.
