Genelle LaBrie is an Edmonton-based movement artist & abstract painter. Her practice is rooted in self-trust as she employs improvisation & gut instinct to investigate the edges of her physicality. She has been painting primarily in acrylic with a palette knife since 2004. A passion for dance sparked in the early-00s rave scene evolved into self-inquiry through yoga, qigong, & somatic education which eventually led to her taking her first contemporary dance workshop in 2024. The natural world & built environment are the sources of her inspiration: matter & molecules, physics & consciousness, waves & wind— she maintains a deep reverence for the infinite unseen forces & invisible miracles.
